FFF: regional leagues, presidents, number of districts & number of licensees (2022-23 figures)

The Fédération Française de Football has 22 regional leagues, 13 in mainland France and 9 overseas, and 91 districts.

In 2016, the territorial reform reduced the number of leagues in mainland France from 22 to 13, in order to comply with the French Sports Code, which requires sports federations such as the FFF to be in line with the administrative organisation at territorial level. The law of 16/01/2015 reduced the number of metropolitan regions in France from 22 to 13 (see map below). The first elections within these Regional Leagues took place on 21, 28 and 29/01/2017.

In addition to the 13 metropolitan regional Leagues, there are now 9 overseas Leagues, corresponding to the following territories:
• Guadeloupe, Réunion and Mayotte, which are both departments and regions.
• Martinique and French Guiana, which are territorial collectivities of the Republic.
• Saint-Martin, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and French Polynesia, which are overseas collectivities.
• New Caledonia, an overseas collectivity with special status.
