NBA/domestic TV rights post-2025: a $76bn deal finalised with ESPN, Amazon & NBC (press)

The National Basketball Association has reportedly finalised a deal with US broadcast groups NBCUniversal, ESPN (The Walt Disney Company) and US e-commerce group Amazon for the domestic media rights to the North American league from 2025, according to US media outlet The Athletic on 10/07/2024.

The deal, which could be announced before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics, would be valued at $76bn (€70.2bn) over 11 years, or $7bn (€6.4bn) per season, according to the daily. The total amount would therefore be 3.16 times greater than that of the current cycle, with American groups ESPN and TNT Sports (Warner Bros. Discovery) paying $24bn (€22.18bn), or $2.67bn (€2.47bn) per season, for the NBA's domestic media rights over the 2016-2025 cycle.

From 2025, ESPN and NBC would each pay $2.6bn per season, while Amazon would pay $1.8bn to broadcast North American league games via its Prime Video platform, according to the American press.
