FIFA: candidate Luis Figo wants to reallocate $1bn to the 209 Member Associations

Reallocating $1bn (€881m) of the reseves of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) to the 209 Member Associations is one of the proposals in "A Manifesto for change at FIFA", which was unveiled by Luis Figo at a press conference at Wembley Stadium, London (ENG), on 19/02/2015.

FIFA's reserves are currently estimated at $1.5bn (€1.32bn), which means that Luis Figo, a candidate for the presidential elections of the international body (held on 29/05/2015) plans to redistribute 66% to the Member Associations if he is elected.

"FIFA’s reserves belong to the Member Associations. The current reserves are $1.5bn yet there is no need to “sit” on this large amount. A reserve of $500m is sufficient to cover the operational needs of FIFA in the unlikely event that a World Cup would have to be postponed" said Luis Figo in his manifesto.
