"Current legislation allows IP blocking, but not in real time and in volumes that would be sustainable. The system would require a lot of resources from Arcom. We need to find a more automated system with less human intervention, which would mean changing the text. These are the issues that APPS is currently working on, in consultation with Arcom," said Sarah d’Arifat, legal director at the pay-TV group beIN SPORTS France, to News Tank Football on 06/12/2024.

Sports competitions are increasingly falling victim to piracy on platforms such as X and Telegram, illicit IPTV or illegal sites. In its 2024 report on the fight against piracy, published on 28/11, Arcom estimates that the loss of revenue from the piracy of sports broadcasts in France amounted to €290m in 2023, or 15% of the revenue generated by legal sports platforms and broadcasters (€1.9bn).
