Football League: the clubs will receive a share of Premier League parachute payments

The Premier League and the Football League (the professional league that manages the 2nd, 3rd and 4th English divisions) concluded an agreement on the "parachute payments" allocated to Barclays Premier League clubs that are relegated to the Sky Bet Championship (English 2nd division) and on "solidarity" payments distributed to the 72 clubs in the Sky Bet Football League, announced the two English professional leagues, on 19/02/2015. The agreement covers the 2016-2019 period.

A part of the Premier League's audiovisual revenues will be paid to Sky Bet Football League clubs from 2016-17. "It provides the first contracted link between the broadcasting revenues of the two domestic professional leagues since the formation of the Premier League in 1992," said the Football League.

The share of broadcasting revenue transferred by the Premier League to clubs that are relegated will be reduced and payments will now be spread over three years and not four as in the 2013-2016 cycle.
