Fines of up to £5,000 (about €6,900) will be imposed, in the United Kingdom, to actors in the secondary ticket market that do not meet the new ticket resale regulations contained in an amendment to the bill on consumption introduced by the MP Colin Moynihan, according the British cultural magazine The Stage on 04/03/2015.

The proposals, approved by the UK House of Lords, impose stricter rules on resellers of tickets to cultural and sporting events, including providing more information on resold tickets (original value, any restrictions on use and exact location of the place in the room or stadium). The amendment aims to eradicate the sale of counterfeit tickets by making the secondary ticket market more transparent.

  • In 2012, the amount of fraud in online ticketing in the UK had reached £1.5bn (about €2bn).
  • 85% to 95% of the resale of tickets in the UK are via four websites (Stubhub, Seatwave, Viagogo and Getmein), according to the MP Colin Moynihan.
  • The amendment will be taken up by the UK House of Commons during the week from 09 to 13/03/2015.
