Nearly twice as many supporters were arrested in England than in France in the first two professional divisions during the 2013-14 season. 1,157 fans were arrested in the Barclays Premier League and Championship (English second division), according to figures from the British police, compared to 641 in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 (French second division), according to data from the security monitoring department of the LFP (French Professional Football League).

Specifically, arrests for acts of violence and disorder are also more than twice as high in England (528) than in France (214) for the 2013-14 season. The number of arrests has nevertheless been halved in the UK since the 2000-01 season.

2,053 fans from the first four English divisions, including 848 from the Barclays Premier League, were banned from stadiums in September 2014 compared to 373 French fans, according to figures from the DNLH (French public agency which monitors and prevents hooliganism) released in February, 2015.
