The DBU and the Spillerforeningen are engaged in a dispute over game wages and bonuses, according to Danish media on 16/03/2015. The Association is seeking a pay cut of 17% (of match pay), whilst the players' union are seeking a performance-based bonus if the team qualify for the Euro 2016 finals (in France, 10/06 from 10/07/2016).

"We think it is fair with a results-oriented (wage) solution that is linked to sporting results," said the players' union in a statement. Under the last contract between the players and the federation, pay ranged from €5,350 to €6,700 per game for the men's national team.

"It's a very strange situation. We have always been open about the DBU's financial problems and suddenly we are met with a demand from the (players' union) for more money for national teams. It is completely unrealistic," said Jakob Høyer, the spokesman of the DBU. The DBU has reported losses of 4.5m Danish kroner (about €600,000) over the last two years.
