Wimbledon: Tencent acquires exclusive broadcasting rights in China for the 2025-2027 cycle

Tencent, the Chinese internet services group, has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights in China to the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament over the 2025-2027 cycle (three editions), announced the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), which organises the tournament, on 11/02/2025.

The broadcasting rights to the tournament were previously held by the Chinese company Shinai Sports (streaming rights) and the public television group CCTV (owned by the public media group China Media Group). "Whether it is live broadcast, match replays, highlights or features, Tencent's multimedia platforms will ensure fans won't miss a moment of their favourite players at Wimbledon," said Paul Davies, associate director of broadcast, production and media rights at the AELTC.

This agreement comes after Tencent also obtained exclusive broadcasting rights in China for the Hologic WTA Tour for the 2025 season, on 09/02/2025, from WTA Ventures (a commercial company formed in March 2023 in which the investment fund CVC Capital Partners holds a 20% stake).
