UEFA Women's Euro 2025: 7.3% more abusive posts on Facebook, Instagram, X & TikTok than in 2022

1,901 abusive posts were identified on social networks during UEFA Women's Euro 2025 as part of UEFA's programme to combat online abuse, announced the European Football Confederation on 31/07/2025.

This total is 7.3% higher than during UEFA Women's Euro 2022, when the programme, devised in collaboration with Meta, TikTok and X, was deployed for the first time.

359 (or 19.1%) of these 1,901 posts could be reported directly to the Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok platforms so that they could take action, such as deleting violating comments. 91% of abusive posts reported to Meta on Instagram were removed.

66.6% of offensive posts were acted upon by the platforms. "For all other abusive content, UEFA encourages teams and individuals to connect with their local law enforcement for action and possible remedy," said the body.

In detail:
• 67.3% of the posts reported were aimed at individual players, 5.3% at coaches, 25.6% at team accounts and 1.8% at referees.
• 81.9% of posts reported were for "general" abuse, i.e. "not specifically targeted at a group or community", while 13% contained…
