Spain: enactment of the royal decree for the collective selling of audiovisual rights from 2016-17

According to its official journal on 30/04/2015, the Spanish government enacted a royal decree which establishes the collective selling of domestic and international audiovisual rights of Spanish professional competitions from 2016-17. La Liga -- the new name of the LFP, the Spanish Professional Football League -- will be in charge of the sale of TV rights to the Liga BBVA and the Liga Adelante, while the RFEF will attend to the rights of the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España.

La Liga will redistribute 90% of the audiovisual revenues to the 20 clubs in the Liga BBVA and the remaining 10% to the 22 clubs of the Liga Adelante. Within the Spanish first division, 50% of total revenues will be distributed equally between the clubs, 25% according to the sporting ranking for the five previous seasons and 25% according to the social presence ("implantación social") of the clubs.

Of their total audiovisual revenues, the clubs will distribute 7% to "the promotion and operation of competitions and other sports", including 3.5% for the establishment of a parachute fund for clubs relegated…
