Germany: sublicensing agreements between ARD, ZDF & Deutsche Telekom for the 2026 World Cup & Euro 2028

The German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights to 60 matches (out of 104) at the FIFA 2026 World Cup from the telecommunications operator Deutsche Telekom via their agency SportA, they announced on 07/10/2025.

The matches broadcast free-to-air will include all games involving the German national team, the opening match, the semi-finals and the final. All 104 matches will be offered via Deutsche Telekom's Magenta TV platform, which acquired the full media rights to the competition (along with those for the Women's World Cup 2027) on 23/05/2025.

For Euro 2028, Deutsche Telekom has obtained the rights to broadcast all the matches under a sublicensing agreement with SportA. The latter had acquired the rights to the competition for ZDF and ARD on 20/01/2025. The two public broadcasting groups will retain free-to-air broadcasting rights for 34 Euro matches, including Germany matches and the final.
