Equipment manufacturers: Chinese groups Anta Sports & Li Ning interested in buying Puma (press)

Anta Sports Products, a Chinese sportswear company, and Li Ning, a Chinese equipment manufacturer, are among the companies considering a potential takeover of financially troubled German brand Puma, according to business and financial news websites Bloomberg (USA) and Reuters (UKR) on 27/11/2025.

Li Ning and Anta Sports, the company that owns Finnish group Amer Sports (owner of the French brand Salomon), have reportedly appointed an adviser to evaluate the deal, and could team up with a private equity fund if the project goes ahead. Li Ning denies this information and stated in a communication to Reuters that it "has not engaged in any substantive negotiations or evaluations regarding the transaction mentioned". The Japanese group Asics is also said to have made enquiries, according to Bloomberg.

Artemis, the Pinault family's holding company, has a 29% stake in Puma SE, while 71% is free float.

The German group announced on 30/10/2025 that it would cut 900 administrative positions worldwide (out of approximately 7,000, or 12.9%) by the end of 2026, after having already cut 500…
