TotalEnergies AFCON 2025/piracy: 10 million viewers "disrupted" by beIN's blockages on social media

"beIN’s anti-piracy efforts disrupted over 10 million viewers of illegal streams on social platforms" during the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025, said beIN Media Group on 20/01/2026.

15,000 illegal streams has been detected by the Qatari group, which had achieved a "100% takedown rate" on social media.

beIN holds the broadcasting rights to CAF competitions, including the AFCON, over the 2017-2028 period for an estimated amount of $415m (€353m).This agreement covers France and more than 40 countries across the MENA and APAC regions, as well as the United States and Canada.
