United States/university sport: uniform sponsorship authorised by the NCAA from 01/08/2026

The NCAA Division I Council has approved "a proposal that will allow Division I sports programs to place additional commercial logos or patches on uniforms, equipment and apparel for any non-NCAA championship competition (at federal level), including the regular season," announced the athletic association responsible for major college and university athletic programs in the United States on 23/01/2026.

As of 01/08/2026, i.e. from the start of the 2026-27 season, all Division I teams will be permitted up to two additional commercial logos on their uniforms and apparel and another on equipment (helmets, gloves) during the preseason and regular season, with an additional commercial logo on uniforms and apparel for conference championships. The patches will be limited to a maximum of 4 square inches per logo.

Official NCAA championship competitions do not currently allow to display sponsors on jerseys. Consequently, if a team qualifies for an NCAA tournament, it must remove sponsor patches from its uniforms. From 2026-27, university teams taking part in the final stages of an NCAA…
