Joseph Blatter (SUI) was re-elected FIFA president for another four years (2015-2019) with 133 out of 209 of votes cast at the 65th Congress of the international federation in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015. His only rival, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (Jordan), received 73 votes (there were 3 invalid votes).

Though Joseph Blatter did not receive the necessary 140 votes to reach the 67% threshold needed to win outright in the first round of voting, Ali Bin Al Hussein withdraw his candidacy ahead of the second round.

Joseph Blatter, 79 years old, thus begins a fifth term as head of FIFA. First elected on 08/06/1998 in Paris (FRA), beating the Lennart Johansson (SWE), he was re-elected in 2002, 2007 and 2011.

To be elected in the first round, a candidate must obtain at least two thirds of the votes of the 209 member associations present at the conference. In the second round, a simple majority (over 50%) of the valid votes would have been sufficient.
