World Rugby: economic impact of £294.7m (€337.5m) for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025

The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, held in eight cities across England (from 22/08 to 27/09), generated economic benefits of £294.7m (€337.56m), according to an impact report on the competition published by World Rugby on 23/02/2026. The tournament benefited from a £14m (€16m) investment from the UK government.

Direct expenditure accounted for 60% of this total (£176.3m/€201.9m), while indirect benefits (on the supply chain and household wages re-spending) made up the remaining 40% (£118.4m/€135.6m). London was the host city that benefited most from the tournament, attracting 81,000 visitors and generating £48.5m/€55.5m.

"With more than 80% of the total impact realised outside London, the tournament delivered significant and tangible benefits to local economies nationwide, from increased visitor spending and hospitality uplift to strengthened destination profiles (£54m of media value) and enhanced civic pride," said the international federation.
