Premier League: £10.75m fine for Chelsea for breaches committed under Abramovich

Chelsea FC (Premier League) has been handed two fines totalling £10.75m (€12.4m), in addition to an immediate Academy transfer ban and a suspended ban for its first team, announced the Premier League on 16/03/2026.

This decision sanctions a series of breaches committed by the London club when it was still owned by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich (majority shareholder from 2003 to 2022). Some of these were even reported to the Premier League, The FA and UEFA by the club’s new American owners shortly after the takeover, completed on 30/05/2022. The consortium led by Todd Boehly had indicated that it had evidence of regulatory breaches by the club’s previous ownership.
