The Premier League formalised the non-extension of its title partnership with the British bank Barclays, whose contract expires at the end of the 2015-16 season, on 05/06/2015. The agreement began in 2001.

"Barclays has been an excellent partner for the League throughout their sponsorship of the competition and we look forward to working with them in 2015/16, the final season of their title sponsorship," said a spokesman of the league on 05/06/2015. The contract with Barclays has been estimated at £40m (€55.7m) per season since its last extension in 2012.

  • Premier League clubs oppose the possible offer of the Irish beer brand Guinness, which belongs to the British Diageo group, to become the title sponsor of the Premier League in place of Barclays Bank, revealed the British newspaper the Daily Mail on 20/04/2015.
