The EPFL has joined the European Commission to promote the first European Sport Week, held from 07 to 13/09/2015. The objectives of the Sport Week are: to encourage physical activity, promote sports and their social role, as well as promoting team spirit and the reward of effort. The EPFL and member leagues of the European Union (see below) will relay the values and key messages of the European Commission, by the initiative on their different communication platforms.

"Over the years the European Union and the EPFL have forged a trusted working relationship,” said EPFL and French LFP President Frédéric Thiriez. “When the European Union and its Sport Unit launched this inspiring campaign to promote physical activity, it was important to have the European Leagues actively engaged in this initiative. Through their media impact, our Leagues will jointly help Europe to raise awareness about the health benefits of sport," said Frédéric Thiriez, president of the EPFL and the French LFP, on 01/09/2015.
