UEFA: Yves Leterme (BEL) becomes chief investigator of the body responsible for financial fair play

Former Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme was appointed chief investigator of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), announced UEFA on 18/09/2015. "As chief investigator of the CFCB, Yves Leterme will be at the forefront of monitoring the compliance of clubs with the UEFA financial fair play regulations," said the European confederation.

Yves Leterme succeeds another former Belgian Prime Minister as chief Investigator of the ICFC, Jean-Claude Dehaene, who died at the age of 73, on 15/05/2014. Umberto Lago (ITA) has been acting chief investigator since the death of Jean-Claude Dehaene, who had held the position since 2012.

  • "Yves Leterme has all the qualities for the job. He is a former prime minister, a lawyer, an economist and he loves football, which is always an advantage when you occupy a position in the field of football," said Gianni Infantino (SUI), UEFA secretary general, after the executive committee meeting in St Julians (MLT), on 18/09/2015.
