The City of Hamburg (GER) will have an estimated budget of €11.2bn for their 2024 Olympic Games bid (for the 2017-2024 period), of which €7.4bn will be financed by public funds (including €1.2bn from the city of Hamburg itself), announced Olaf Scholz, the mayor of Hamburg, on 08/10/2015.

Hamburg is expecting a further €3.36bn in funding from the IOC and ticketing revenue, as well as €350m of revenue from the OlympiaCity area that will be the main location of the Olympic Games (containing the Olympic stadium, aquatic centre and tourist areas).

The total cost relating to infrastructure is estimated at €5.86bn. Expenses relating to the refurbishment and renovation of the sites (from 2025-2027 until 2040) will total €1.13bn and is not part of the €11.2bn budget presented by the City. The host city of the 2024 Olympic Games will be chosen in September 2017 during the 130th IOC Session in Lima (Peru).
