"The commercial value of the 2015 Rugby World Cup is up 50% compared to the 2011 competition (held in New Zealand from 09/09 to 23/10/2011). That includes money from sponsors, broadcast revenue - of which the main part is TV rights - and hospitality. All of these areas have done fantastically well. That is all revenue (£150m / €208m) that we will reinvest in the game," said Brett Gosper, CEO of World Rugby, on 21/10/2015.

"We are committed to growing the game in new markets, and promoting the sport beyond our traditional comfort zones. We have seen huge growth in Brazil, India, China, Russia. It is also the fastest-growing team sport in the US," added Brett Gosper on the BBC News website. Approximately 2.42 million tickets were sold for the Rugby World Cup 2015 (England and Wales), up 7.6% compared to the 2007 edition (held in France, Scotland and Wales) for which 2.25 million tickets were sold. During the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand, 1.6 million tickets were sold.
