Prime minister David Cameron made the England-France friendly at Wembley the emblem of Franco-British defiance against terrorism in a speech to the British parliament on 17/11/2015.

"The terrorists' aim is clear: it is to divide us and to destroy our way of life. So now more than ever we must come together and stand united and carry on with the way of life that we know and that we love," stated David Cameron.

The comments of the prime minister of the United Kingdom received loud cheers of support in the House of Commons. "Tonight England will play France at Wembley. The match is going ahead. Our people stand together as they have done so many times throughout history when faced with evil. And once again together we will prevail," added David Cameron.

The international friendly match is the first outing for the French national team since the France - Germany (2-0) friendly on 13/11/2015, which took place during the attacks in Paris and at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis, north of Paris) which left 129 people killed and 352 injured.
