"Sport is in serious threat. Not just because of either incompetent and perhaps corrupt governance but because of the serious influence of transnational organised crime taking advantage of the sport gamblers of the world," said Chris Eaton on 15/12/2015.

Chris Eaton is the former head of security at FIFA, for whom he served between 2010 and 2012. Since then he has been working as the Director of Sport Integrity of the International Centre for Sport Security in Doha, Qatar.

"The light we (the ICSS) have been shining, us and others -- the clean media and other areas around the world -- on on-sport-field corruption, or match-fixing to use its colloquial term today, has certainly assisted everyone to realise that sport has been misused. But where the real darkness remains is in sport betting. That's where the money comes from. As long as you don't shine light on where the money is coming from, the criminals will keep taking advantage," explained Eaton.

"I do not have unlimited investigational resources, but we do a lot because sport is such an easy target for criminality that criminality…
