FIFA: Carrard report proposes reducing the number of standing committees from 26 to 9

"The number of permanent committees should be reduced from 26 to 9 to improve efficiency and ensure that all member associations are involved in more relevant, more efficient and more egalitarian in FIFA decision-making," stated the FIFA 2016 Reform Committee in its report (paragraph 18) dated 02/12/2015.

The report, presented by the chairman of the Reform Committee, François Carrard (pictured), to the FIFA Executive Committee, meeting in Zurich (SUI) on 02 and 03/12/2015, will be submitted to the extraordinary FIFA Congress scheduled on 26/02/2016.

"The Audit & Compliance Committee and the judicial bodies must maintain their independence," also emphasised the Refrom Committee's report.

  • The criteria for a minimum number of independent members shall be fixed for the Finance Committee, the Development Committee and the Governance Committee.
