"We hear about a salary of one million Swiss francs," reads a memo written a board meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, dated 12/11/1998, a document which appears to indicate the role of Michel Platini at FIFA, five months after the election of Joseph Blatter of the international federation.

This memo, which reported by the French newspaper Journal du Dimanche on 06/12/2015, "is to demonstrate, contrary to the argument on which all the charges are founded, that Michel Platini's contract with FIFA had no covert nature and many people, including many at UEFA and FIFA, had knowledge of the agreement in 1998," stated Thibaud d'Alès, a lawyer for Michel Platini, in the Journal du Dimanche.

Michel Platini, UEFA president since 2007, was suspended for 90 days on 08/10/2015 by the FIFA Ethics Committee. He is accused of having received, from FIFA on 01/02/2011, "2 million Swiss francs (about €1.54m at the time of payment), allegedly for work performed between January 1999 and June 2002", according Swiss Justice, which has opened a criminal case against Joseph Blatter on 25/09/2015.
