FIFA: CAS maintains the provisional 90-day suspension of Michel Platini

"The 90-day provisional suspension imposed on Michel Platini remains in force, but FIFA is ordered not to extend it," announces the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 11/12/2015.

Michel Platini, UEFA president since 2007, was suspended for 90 days on 08/10/2015 by the FIFA Ethics Committee. He is accused of having received, from FIFA on 01/02/2011, "2 million Swiss francs (about €1.54m at the time of payment), allegedly for work performed between January 1999 and June 2002", according Swiss Justice, which has opened a criminal case against Joseph Blatter on 25/09/2015. After unsuccessful appeal to FIFA, Michel Platini challenged the provisional suspension before the CAS. This body, based in Lausanne (SUI), invited Michel Platini to attend a preliminary hearing on Tuesday 08/12/2015.

"The CAS Panel, composed of Mr Clifford Hendel (France/USA), President, Mr Rui Botica Santos (Portugal) and Prof. Ulrich Haas (Germany), determined that maintaining the provisional suspension for the remainder of the 90 days does not cause irreparable harm to Michel Platini at this point in time.
