FIFA: The IOC welcomes reforms but "remains concerned" about ongoing procedures

"The IOC Executive Board also welcomed the proposals by the FIFA Executive Committee for major reforms like term limits and other measures," announced the International Olympic Committee, at the conclusion of the meeting of its Executive Committee in Lausanne (SUI) on 10/12/2015.

The FIFA Executive Committee approved the Reform Committee's report on 03/12/2015. The report, which will be submitted to the FIFA Congress on 26/02/2016, notably recommends the creation, in the place of the Executive Committee, of a "Council" comprising 36 members (including at least six women) with a president who will be the "Ambassador" of FIFA. The secretary general will be responsible for the daily implementation of policies defined by the Council. There will also be a provision limiting the number of terms (three consecutive or non-consecutive terms of a maximum of four years) of the president and Council members.
