FIFA: Ethics Committee calls for 9-year suspension of Jérôme Valcke as his temporary ban is extended

The investigatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee has called for a nine year suspension and a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs (about €92,000) against Jérôme Valcke, the suspended secretary general of the international federation, on 05/01/2016. This sanction was requested by Cornel Borbély (SUI), chairman of the investigatory chamber and author of the report on Jerome Valcke.

In this report, submitted to the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee, Cornel Borbély also requested that the provisional 90-day suspension, issued against the FIFA secretary general on 07/10/2015, which expired on 05/01/2016, be prolonged by up to 45 days. The adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee agreed to this request on 06/01/2016. The provisional suspension of Jérôme Valcke has therefore been extended until 19/02/2016.

Jérôme Valcke was relieved of his duties "with immediate effect and until further notice" by FIFA on 17/09/2015. He is suspected of being involved in a black market ticket resale scheme at the 2014 World Cup. The German Markus Kattner has held the role of acting…
