NFL: Rams to move to Los Angeles in 2016-17 and will open their 80,000-seater stadium in 2019

30 of the 32 NFL franchise owners voted in favour of moving the St. Louis Rams franchise to Los Angeles (California) for the start of the 2016-17 season, during a vote held in Houston (Texas) on 12/01/2016. A three-quarters majority vote of the owners (24 out of 32) is required to allow the relocation of a franchise.

The Rams, originally based in Cleveland (Ohio), first moved to Los Angeles in 1946 before leaving the Californian city for St. Louis (Missouri) in February 1995. In 2016, the franchise is expected to play at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (93,607 places), where they played before their departure to St. Louis, which is now used by American football teams of the University of Southern California and University of California at Los Angeles (NCAA).

In 2019, the Los Angeles Rams are planning to move into in their own 80,000-seater stadium in Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles where the owner, Stan Kroenke -- who also owns Arsenal FC (Barclays Premier League), the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), the Colorado Rapids (MLS) and the Denver Nuggets (NBA) -- has already acquired land…
