€1.266bn is the amount of the total estimated economic impact for France for hosting Euro 2016, according to a study from the CDES de Limoges (Centre for the study of law and economics in sport) conducted at the request of UEFA in December 2014, but with the results presented by Christophe Lepetit, in charge of economic studies at the CDES, at the invitation of EURO 2016 SAS, in Paris (FRA), on 28/01/2016.

The economic impact measures the increased activity generated by an event. The €1.266bn estimate recorded for Euro 2016 is broken down into two parts:
• €788m related to tourism: €593m for the impact of spectators going to the stadiums and €195m for the impact of the fan zones.
• €478m covered by the impact of the organisation of the tournament, of which 74% (€354m) is funded by EURO 2016 SAS, the organising company of the competition.

The CDES study also looks at the legacy of Euro 2016, divided into three areas, athletic, economic and territorial. It also analyzes the economic impact and legacy for each of the 10 host cities of the competition.
