The organisation of Euro 2016 will generate €2.8bn in sales, with an economic impact of €1.266bn (increased activity due to the event), as well as the equivalent of 26,000 full-time jobs, or 94,000 people employed in total (including 35,000 in the fields of health and security) according to the economic and social impact study conducted by the CDES de Limoges at the request of UEFA and presented by Christophe Lepetit, head of economic studies at the CDES, on 28/01/2016.

"This study was carried out before the event. The latest version dates back to December 2014, at a time when we still did not know the 24 teams participating in the tournament, or the location of their base camps. We have made conservative, realistic estimations, because impact studies often tend to inflate the numbers," said Christophe Lepetit, during the presentation organised in Paris (FRA) by EURO 2016 SAS, on 28/01/2016.

  • The report from the CDES is only in French, thus no English-language photos are available.
