FIFA: Ethics Commitee requests life bans for two former South American officials

The investigatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee has requested the life suspension of Luis Bedoya (COL), a former member of the FIFA Executive Committee and former president of the Colombian Federation, and Sergio Jadue (CHI), former president of the Chilean Federation, on 18/02/2016. These sanctions were put forward by Cornel Borbély (SUI), chairman of the investigatory chamber and editor of the report concerning the two South American leaders.

Luis Bedoya and Sergio Jadue, who resigned from their respective in football, have both pleaded guilty to charges from the US court as part of the case that led to the indictment of 30 people (14 on 27/05/2015 and a further 16 people on 03/12/2015 16) for racketeering, fraud and corruption, by the federal court of Brooklyn (New York, United States).

The final sanctions against Luis Bedoya and Sergio Jadue will be determined by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee. "Until formal decisions are taken by the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Mr Bedoya and Mr Jadue are presumed innocent," said FIFA.
