FIFA: "Make the laws briefer (10,000 words shorter) and more accessible" (David Elleray)

"The revision of the Laws of the Game is designed to make the laws more accessible, not just to referees but to players, coaches and anybody that's interested in football so they can understand the laws. We've also brought them up to date because they had fallen behind the development of football. They are briefer laws, with 10,000 words removed but with much greater clarity so everybody understands what decision a referee makes," said Englishman David Elleray, a former Premier League referee who headed the technical sub-Committee of the IFAB in charge of rewriting the Laws of the Game, the 08/03/2016.

The International Board unanimously approved a revision of the Laws of the Game at its 130th Annual General Meeting in Cardiff (Wales), the 03/05/2016. After 18 months of work, 94 amendments were registered. "A unique opportunity to correct anomalies and inconsistencies," said FIFA on 05/03/2016.
