"It is now apparent that multiple members of FIFA's Executive Committee abused their positions and sold their (World Cup) votes on multiple occasions," stated FIFA in its Victim Statement and Request for Restitution document submitted to the US government on 15/03/2016.

The FIFA document specifically mentions the bribery scheme of former FIFA vice-president and CONCACAF president Jack Warner (Trinidad and Tobago) on two separate occasions. The first regarding a bribe, in 1992, made by the Moroccan bid to Warner to secure the latter's vote to host the 1998 World Cup (ultimately awarded to France). The second scheme involved a bribe of $10m made by the South African bid to Warner, former FIFA ExCo member and CONCACAF secretary general Charles "Chuck" Blazer (USA) and an unnamed third FIFA ExCo member to secure their votes to host the 2010 World Cup (South Africa was indeed awarded the tournament).

FIFA is now pursuing -- via its Request for Restitution document in response to the indictments issued by the US Department of Justice on 20/05/2015 and 25/11/2015 -- monetary compensation…
