FIFA: Gianni Infantino increases the development budget by 57.4%, to €1.25bn over four years

"The budget for football development for the 2015-2018 period has been increased by $517m (€458m) from $900m (€798m) to $1.417bn (€1.25bn)," announced FIFA in its 2015 financial and governance report, published on 17/03/2016.

"Gianni Infantino’s plans for FIFA are based particularly around developing football even further and investing more funds for this purpose. The necessary budget adjustment was approved by the Finance Committee and by the Executive Committee at their meetings on 17 and 18/03/2016 respectively, and now has to be approved by the FIFA Congress (held in Mexico City on 12 and 13/05/2016)," said the international Federation.

Of the initial $900m set aside for development, $351m (€311m) or 39% is allocated to the Financial Assistance Programme (see below) and $194m (€172m), with 21.5% to the Goal Programme and other development projects, said FIFA.

Of the $1.417bn (€1.25bn) that FIFA will use to aide development during the 2015-2018 period, $1.151bn dollars (€1.02bn), or 81.2% will go to the national federations (including the poorer federations), $240m (€213m), or…
