Serie A: 50% of TV revenues distributed equally, instead of 40%, if the Melandri Law is amended

The fixed share of TV revenues distributed equally among the clubs of the Serie A TIM could increase from 40% to 50% of the total amount (or, from €18.5 to €23m per club), if the Italian government amends the Melandri Law of 01/02/2008, which governs the negotiation and redistribution of the audiovisual revenues of the Serie A, reported Italian media on 26/04/2016. A bill was proposed by the MP from the Lazio region, Lorenza Bonaccorsi (Democratic party, center left).

Currently, the 30% of the TV revenues which are redistributed based on each club's TV audience region would be recalculate -- according to the number of inhabitants of the metropolis where each club is established -- in a new manner to account "for maximum objectivity". This measure could reduce the amounts received by Juventus, FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan, who have large city communities.
