The 2015 Rugby World Cup in England had an impact of £2.3bn (€3bn) in economic benefits, including £1.1m (€1.45bn) directly into the local economy of the United Kingdom, said World Rugby citing an analysis of the audit firm EY (formerly Ernst & Young) entitled "The economic impact of the Rugby World Cup 2015," on 24/05/2016.

The 48-day competition attracted 406,000 foreign visitors (average stay of 14 days), from 151 countries, and generated 34,000 jobs or volunteer missions. 2.47 million tickets were sold (98%).

"Rugby World Cup 2015 was a very special and record-breaking global celebration of rugby and its character-building values and widely regarded as the biggest and best Rugby World Cup to date," said Bernard Lapasset, outgoing president of World Rugby, on 24/05/2016.

World Rugby announced before the tournament that The 2015 Rugby World Cup in England (from 18/09 to 31/10/2015) could yield £982m (€1.2bn) to the British economy, according to a study from EY for the local organising committee of this competition, published on 18/11/2014.
