"FIFA’s administration will be split into two dedicated pillars: one designed to generate financial returns and operating the administrative work that comes along with it, and another one focused on developing football and organising competitions,” said Fatma Samoura, the future secretary general of FIFA, on 30/05/2016.

The Senegalese Fatma Samoura, 54 years old, appointed secretary general of the international federation by the FIFA Council on 13/05/2016, will start her new role on 20/06/2016, she announced during a "courtesy visit" to FIFA headquarters in Zurich (SUI) on 30/05/2016.

“In order to achieve our goals we have decided to introduce an improved structure that will make FIFA more efficient and fit its purpose of developing football everywhere," she said, adding that two new deputy secretary generals will oversee these pillars:
• Marco Villiger (SUI) will lead the commercial and administrative side.
• Zvonimir Boban (CRO), former international midfielder, will head issues related to football.
