Two years in prison for a 29 year-old Frenchman, three months for a 41 year-old Englishman, two months for another 20 year-old Englishman, and a two-year ban from entering French territory for both Englishmen, these are the first sanctions issued by the Court of Marseille on 13/06/2016, after the incidents in the in the city surrounding the England-Russia match (1-1 on 11/06/2016) at the Stade Velodrome.

"I'd like to thank the England fans for the great support inside the stadium against Russia. Now, as we have a big game coming up against Wales (Thursday, 16/06/2016 at 15:00 CET in Lens ), I'd like to ask the fans that, if they don't have a ticket, please don't travel. For the fans with tickets: be safe, be sensible and continue with your great support for the players," stated Wayne Rooney, the captain the England national team, on 13/06/2016.

"As England manager, I'm obviously very concerned about the threat which is now hanging over us of sanctions that could be imposed upon the England team," said Roy Hodgson in the same statement as Wayne Rooney.
