Euro 2016 : "Matches need to be accessible to the greatest number of people" (Valerie Fourneyron)

"We need to guarantee social acceptance of this great competition that is Euro 2016, that's to say, to make the matches accessible to the greatest number of people possible, offering discounted tickets in particular," said Valerie Fourneyron, French minister of Sport, Youth and Community Life at the presentation of the competition's logo in Paris on the 26/06/2013.

The minister of Sport also recalled the government's commitment to raise €160m for the renovation and construction of stadiums in the 10 host cities. "Public funding should be part of the European Commission's notification (...) The notification was sent on the 03/05/2013. (...) I have no doubt that our exemplary work will be recognised by the Commission. Their decision will be known by the end of 2013," Valerie Fourneyron indicated.

"We needed at least nine stadiums to hold the competition, and we have them. We don't have any concerns with the hosting capacities," the minister added.

Asked about her fear of social demonstrations before the competition, similar to those taking place in Brazil during the 2013…
