Euro 2016: €1.93bn in revenue generated for UEFA (TV rights: €1.05bn ), with a profit of €830m

The total revenue generated by Euro 2016 (Portugal defeated France in the final, 1-0 after extra time, at the Stade de France, on 10/07/2016) was €1.93bn, in this first edition of the tournament to feature 24 teams and 51 matches in total, announced UEFA on 08/07/2016. UEFA said that this amount represents an increase of 34% compared to the previous edition of the Euro (16 teams, 31 matches), held in Poland and Ukraine in 2012.

This income is divided into three parts:
• TV rights: €1.05bn
• Sponsoring/licensing: €480m
• Ticketing and hospitality: €400m

Expenses amounted to €1.1bn, according to UEFA:
• Organisational costs: €650m
• Monies re-distributed to the 24 participating teams' federations: €301m (including €25.5m for Portugal, champions of the competition, and €23.5m for France, the losing finalist)
• Monies re-distributed to the clubs of the participating players: €150m
