International Champions Cup: Chinese investors interested, event valued at $300m-$500m (Bloomberg)

Chinese investors may be interested in acquiring a stake in the International Champions Cup, the high profile pre-season friendly tournament between top clubs organised by the US company Relevant Sports, according to the American media outlet Bloomberg on 19/07/2016.

The amount and price of the stake to be acquired has not been disclosed, but negotiations are in the "late stages", and based an overall valuation of the ICC tournament at $300m to $500m (approximately €275m to €450m), according to Bloomberg sources.

The three-week pre-season ICC event - which began in the summer of 2013, and continues with the 2016 and fourth edition of the tournament (see below) - generates revenues of over $100m (€90m), according to the same sources. Relevant Sports is thought to be interested in having a local partner specifically to assist with the Chinese-hosted portions of the ICC.
