EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues) acquired observer status in the Standing Committee of the European Convention on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour, the association announced on the 09/07/2013.

The purpose of this Committee is to prevent and control violence and misbehaviour amongst spectators, as well as to ensure their safety at sporting events. The entrance of the EPFL was unanimously approved during a meeting in Strasbourg on the 20/06/2013.

"We are glad to render our contribution to further develop all necessary measures for a football free from violence and disorders," says Emanuel Macedo, COO of the EPFL. "We strive to represent the common interests of our Leagues, which includes assisting them their on-going efforts to ensure the highest safety and security standards in and around football matches."

"I believe that our joint force will help to improve our strategies and will be an additional way of spreading European good practice in this field." said Jo Vanhecke, president of the Committee.
