FIFA: New Zealander Sarai Bareman appointed Chief Women’s Football Officer

The New Zealander Sarai Bareman has been the chief women's football officer at FIFA. She will head the newly created Women's Football Division. She will also be a part of the FIFA Management Board, and will be under the direct authority of Zvonimir Boban, deputy secretary general in charge of football, announced the international federation on 11/10/2016.

Sarai Bareman will take office on 14/11/2016. "As the only female member of FIFA's 2016 Reform Committee, Sarai was a strong advocate for change within the organisation, in particular calling for concrete requirements on women in leadership positions at FIFA, which came into force following unanimous approval at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress on 26/02/2016," said FIFA.

  • The FIFA Council (the body which has replaced the Executive Committee in the new statutes adopted on 26/02/2016) will meet in Zurich (SUI) on 13 and 14/10/2016.
