TV rights distribution: Premier League leads with 1.5 ratio between first and last, LaLiga last

The distribution ratio of TV rights (including domestic and international) for the Premier League - that is, the ratio between the club which receives the most money compared to the one which receives the lowest amount - for the 2015-16 season is 1.5, which places the English top division first in the European Top 5 leagues in terms of most equitable distribution. Next is the Bundesliga (3.17), Ligue 1 (3.8), the Serie A TIM (4.69), and then LaLiga Santander (5) - making the Spanish league the least equitable from first place to last in audiovisual rights distribution.

• In England, the ratio is stable at around 1.5 (the same for 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons) for all TV rights generated by the Premier League, noting in particular that the international TV rights are shared equally between all 20 clubs.

• In Germany, for the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, the allocation of the domestic TV rights between first and last place is fixed: 2:1. However, the new system of distribution of the international rights increased the overall ratio for the Bundesliga TV rights at 3.17 for the 2015-16…
