Champions League 2012/13: 20% more revenue for participants than in 2011/12

UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) has distributed €904.6m to the 32 clubs that participated in the 2012/13 Champions League, the European body announced on the 23/07/2013. This represents a 20% increase from the 2011/12 season, when UEFA paid out €754.1m.

This increase corresponds to raised bonuses paid to clubs:
- participation bonus: €275.2m in 2012/13 as opposed to €230.4m in 2011/12 (+19.5%)
- performance bonuses: €96m in 2012/13 as opposed to €76.8m in 2011/12 (+25%)
- TV rights: €409.6m in 2012/13 as opposed to €341.1m in 2011/12 (+20.1%)

The share of bonuses within the total 2012/13 revenue remained stable: 45.3% of revenue was from TV rights (as opposed to 45.2% in 2011/12), 30.4% represented participation bonuses (as opposed to 30.6% in 2011/12) and 24.3% was performance bonuses (as opposed to 24.2% in 2011/12).

Bayern Munich, the winners of the Champions League in 2012/13, pocketed a total of €55m for the tournament, or 8.2% less than last year's winner, Chelsea (€59.9m).
