England: Premier League appoints investigators to track the use of foreign satellite systems in bars

The Premier League has appointed ID Inquiries, a Scottish company specialised in brand protection and corporate investigation, to search out illegal use of foreign satellite systems to broadcast the English competition in pubs and bars in the United Kingdom, on the 24/07/2013.

"We remind all publicans that Sky Sports and BT Sport are the only authorised broadcasters of live Premier League matches in the UK and that legal action will be taken against those who use unauthorised satellite systems to show Premier League matches in commercial premises," a Premier League spokesman said.

Some UK publicans use foreign satellite devices, whose subscription fees are cheaper than BT or Sky Sports, to broadcast the matches of the Premier League in their premises.

In addition to the inspection program to be run in bars and commercial areas in the United Kingdom, ID Inquiries has set up a phone number and an email address for the public and publicans to report any violation.
