England: Shaun Harvey appointed CEO of the Football League

Shaun Harvey was appointed Chief Executive of the Football League on the 29/07/2013. He will officially take office on the 01/10/2013. The position was created to support Greg Clarke, chairman of the Football League, who was re-elected to a non-executive role on the 06/06/2013.

The Football League gathers 72 clubs playing in three divisions (24 teams each): the Championship (second division), League One (third division) and League Two (fourth division). The 3 top clubs of the Championship are promoted to the Premier League.

Shaun Harvey was chief executive of Leeds United (Championship) since June 2004. He stepped down in July 2013. He was also a member of the board of the Football League since June 2011.

I have the very highest regard for the people who run our football clubs and I look forward to working with them, as well as all those with a stake in our game, to deliver a vibrant and sustainable Football League," said Shaun Harvey, on the 29/07/2013.
